" So we're some 15 shows to finishing the Unia World tour, I think at the end it will be around 150 shows in 27 countries during 20 months. We got to hear some of Tony's new songs a couple of days ago and they sounded fuckin' great. Can't wait to start rehearsing for the next album. Anyways, back to the tour.....we had a great show in Barcelona yesterday and today is bound to be crazy as well. Since the last off-day I've been mainly chilling and trying to cure the hangover from the first week on the road, appeareantly I can't party as much as I used to....but I'll guess that's ok, and besides I've done my share of partying.....in fact I've done a lot of people's share of partying."

Czyżby to znaczyło, że po zakończeniu trasy panowie wejdą do studia i w przyszłym roku wydadzą nową płytę?

Zobaczymy co tam wymyślą... Mi by bardzo odpowiadały kawałki w stylu I i II płyty, ale to chyba nierealne.

Najwyższy czas! Mam nadzieję, że Sonata wyda wreszcie coś nowego, bo naprawdę długo już czekamy na jakiś krążek. Trzeba śledzić te informację. Smile

Niech wydają, choć wolałbym aby wydali troszkę później płytę na poziomie "Ecliptiki" niż szybko na poziomie "Unii". Chętnie usłyszałbym jeszcze coś równie elektryzującego jak "Picturing The Past" Razz

Nowa płyta prawdopodobnie będzie między 2009 a 2010. Tyle mi wiadomo od Heńka. Smile

Aha, i ciekawe co z tym jubileuszowym DVD, o którym kiedyś Tony wspominał, że wydadzą na 10-lecie (bo faktyczna Sonata w końcu istnieje od 1999 Smile

I won't go into any extensive comments about the upcoming album, mainly because nobody knows how it will sound at this point, and the few songs I've heard by Tony can't paint the whole picture. It's gonna be really interesting to work with Elias in the studio and I'm sure we'll come up with something great.

We're back in the woods right now, the sonata rehersals for the next album started this week. It's been cold as hell but luckily we have a fireplace in the rehersalcabin. Last Monday we had our gear brought out to the cabin, and by the end of the day everything was set up. The last couple of days we've been making cheat-sheets and playing through some of the new material.....btw we had a meeting about the next tour and it will be loooong once again and we'll be going to a lot of new places etc so be sure to check our website for updates....of course the tour starts next autumn...so until then.....regarding the tourdates I mean."

I kolejna porcja z MySpace Henrika:

"So far we have about half of the new SONATA ARCTICA record in shape, so we're missing some songs, as usual. In April we start recording, and, as before, me and Tony are working at our home studios while the other guys record at more 'professional' studios, and by the end of May everything should be recorded and we're ready to mix and master. I know a lot of you are really eager to hear what the album sounds like and probably the speculations have already started on the forums, etc. I can only say that it's a bit darker and maybe not so complex as 'Unia'. Nevertheless, it's definitely not a back-to-the-roots album with fast power metal. All the trademark SONATA stuff is on there, solos, lots of singing some slower songs. Actually, I can hardly wait to hear how it turns out myself.

Next fall we start to tour again, it will once again be a massive effort and going all over the world... at least once. We'll be starting the world tour in.....shit, I can't say that yet. Anyway, there'll be a lot of new places and even more of places we've already been to."

So. The recordings for the next Sonata Arctica studio album are now officially on their way. Tommy has already a few songs down.
I work mostly at home, alone. Still got some songs to write, re-arrange and some lyrics to write. But all in all the album is in excellent shape already.
Can't wait to get this project in a point where I can enjoy the ride...
that's gonna be on the tour. Yeah, there's no rest for the wicked.

Noticed the other day that people actually read these blogs, take Henkka's f.ex.
His entry infact made it to many official news places.
He says the albums a bit more simple and darker. I beg to differ a bit here.
In some ways the album will be more simple, yes, but I don't know if it's actually gonna be darker or more gloomy. Heavier maybe.
Well, I suppose it's in the ear of the...beholder?
The song we aim to have as the 1st single is actually quite chipper.
But definitely we're not repeating ourselves. The album will be fresh and different, something new without estranging us from what Sonata is all about.
And the Stalker we know as Caleb returns to meet his maker...or let's see how that one turns out.

We are like a tree, we have roots and we are happy and proud about all that we've done. But the growth happens above surface. Up, up, towards the sun and new challenges and all that.

Where as some people considered "Unia" a rather drastic change, I think this "yet unnamed"-album will be easier to swallow for some. Or maybe not. I aim to confuse, surprise and make people's lifes tad more interesting. Especially myself and my own.
And doing something I have done already many times over is not the way to go.
This is going to be one helluva great Sonata album!
